Kelso C-7 Families, This morning we received a phone call from the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, asking us to bring all students inside the building for preventative measures. There was an incident unfolding in the area, and for the protection of our children, we were asked to bring all students inside until further notice. This incident did not involve any of our students or families, and we were provided this information so that we could keep students safe during this time. We did have students outside at recess, so we quickly brought them in with the help of several of our staff. We placed the school on a soft lockdown, with all outside doors locked and closed and students remaining inside the building. Students were allowed to continue on with their regular day, and were not confined to their classrooms. About 30 minutes later, the Sheriff’s Department called back to tell us that we could resume our day as normal. We lifted the soft lockdown and students were allowed to go outside. As always, we are thankful for the preventative measures and quick thinking of our local authorities, as well as our staff. If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

SNOW ROUTES 2/25/22 Good evening all. Our school routes are semi-clear as of this afternoon. We are implementing snow routes for tomorrow morning. Our buses will not be traveling on the following roads: County Road 211, 213, 214, 216, 227, and 244, Leroy Drive, Cherry Street, Arlington. We will also not be traveling into the Kelso subdivision. Teds Bus will travel up Highway A to the normal turnaround point, back Highway A and around to 61, down Highway 212, back to the highway and south on 61, Highway A, pass school, and out to 241 and back to return to school. Randy's Bus will run to 61, through old PP, up and down Messmer, down 61 to return to school. What does my family do if I live on one of the untraveled roads? Please meet the buses at the end of the roads we are traveling. For example, if your family lives on Arlington Street, please meet the bus at the end of it where it meets Messmer. The subdivision would meet the bus at the end of Wisteria or Azalea Street. Essner's Custom Butchering has also agreed to be a pick up spot, if your family would like to meet the bus there. I will be driving the routes again in the morning. I must stress the need for a childcare plan for your family just in case. There is a strong chance of refreezing and even more additional precipitation since I have driven the roads. In that case, we will transition to an AMI day. I hope to have my decision made no later than 6 am. Thanks for all of your help and understanding through our many weather days, Dr. Burger

Clarification: There will be NO in person learning tomorrow. Just AMI packets/learning. Sorry for any confusion.

NO SCHOOL THURSDAY, 2/24 + AMI DAY There will be in person learning on Thursday, 2/24/22 due to icy roads conditions. The District utilize an AMI day (alternative methods of instruction/virtual learning). Students were sent home with learning packets today to utilize in the case of a closure. Please refer to your child's classroom learning platform for more specifics. Each teacher will have office hours from 8 am - 12 pm and 5 -6 pm in the case your child needs additional support. We are glad to help. All work will be due the first day back of student attendance. Incomplete work will result as an unexcused absence for that class period. Best wishes to all of our school family to stay safe and warm through this weather event.

Dear Kelso C-7 Family, Our team is prepared for inclement weather that would force us to close school and transition to AMI/virtual learning. We want this be as easy as possible. We have prepared paper packets for our students and will offer office hours for support and questions. Paper packets have gone home with your child today in the case of a school closure for the following two days. IF there is a school closure, messages will be communicated via the district Facebook page, school app, and KFVS12 television station. More specific class related instructions will be delivered by means of your child’s classroom learning platform. In the case of school being in session, please return the AMI/learning packet back to school with your child. I want to stress that your child’s attendance is based on their completion of the assigned work. Any incomplete work will result as an unexcused absence for that hour. As always, if you have any questions or we can help, please let us know. We are here to help. Sincerely, Kimberly Burger, Superintendent

Good morning all, We have had a bit of an exciting morning! One of our buses did find a pretty big patch of ice this morning and get to a point where it could not get enough traction to move forward-it was stuck. The bus never left the pavement, but did need the assistance of a tow truck. All students made it to school safely with the help of some quick acting parents and Mr. Ted rerouting his bus route. Huge shout outs to Denise and Tony Essner, Julie Heisserer, Kevin Kieffer, and Mr. Bollinger. All came to the aide of our bus and students to make sure kids were off of the bus, take kids to school, helped to salt roads, offered to use tractors, and just worked to make situation safe and the best it can be considering. Just another example of our BIG hearted community! We wanted to let our families know that all involved are safe and share a big thank you!!
