It's time to celebrate our amazing principal and special education director, Mrs. Debbie Lands!! She has been named SEMO's Exemplary New Principal!! We are so excited that she will be honored for all of her efforts! She brings an extraordinary level of heart, compassion, and drive to our school and community. Her heart is always looking for the best in others, ways to help our school and all in it, and steps to make our school be the best it can be. Kelso C-7 is beyond blessed by Mrs. Lands! The award is well deserved! Congratulations!

We are moving-communications that is! In preparation for inclement weather season, we are streamlining our communications. Starting Friday, December 10, 2021, Kelso C-7 School will no longer be using the Remind 101 texting service to communicate district-wide announcements. We will be making a full transition to our app. The app meets the same communication needs all in one location. Classrooms may still utilize the Remind 101 services for their own communications. Good morning Kelso C-7 families, We hope all of our families have had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families. As we prepare to return to school tomorrow, I wanted to take the opportunity to touch base with all of our families. The district had another student and now a teacher test positive for COVID over the break. If any of our students have tested positive or have been showing symptoms, it is essential that you communicate that to Nurse Rongey or myself as soon as possible. I am including email addresses at the bottom of this message. Communication is essential for all grades but especially grades K, 3, 4, and 7th. These classes have had students test positive. Grades 5-8 have been potentially exposed by an employee positive. If your child has been running a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or showing more acute signs of illness, please keep them home for their sake but for the health of all. I know this is a burden for working families, and I am very appreciative of your efforts. COVID, cold, flu-any kind of sickness its important for communication of symptoms and any diagnosis. This helps us track illnesses and communicate the needs within our district. which in the long run keeps our school family more safe as a whole. November 22, 2021 Dear Kelso C-7 Families, We continue to battle all kinds of germs, in addition to COVID. We currently have active COVID cases and multiple probable cases, plus a nasty stomach bug going through our population. With our school family’s safety in mind, we will be closing school on Tuesday, 11/23/21. I greatly apologize for any inconveniences, but also believe this is the best thing to limit any further exposures and keep our extended families safe and well. Again, I am very grateful for all of your support and cooperation. Through all of this we have experienced so much grace and understanding from our school family. Our Veterans Day Celebration is tomorrow! We are excited to see all of our veterans in the building and to celebrate their service. The program starts at 12:15 pm in the multipurpose room. For those of you bringing desserts, first off, THANK YOU! Please drop all the yummy desserts first thing in the office or in the kitchen.

Calling all food trucks! Our Faculty Leadership Team is looking to bring food trucks to New Hamburg for lunch, snack, or other treat for our teachers and community members. We need your help though. Good morning Kelso C-7 Families! We have a few morning updates for you: - Veterans' Day: Please return your families sign up for veterans to attend the ceremony and/or a dessert donation form ASAP. Our team is finalizing plans for what is shaping up to be another amazing tribute to some of our country and community's best. - JV Basketball practice is canceled for tonight (11/3). - PTO will meet tonight (11/3) @ 6:30 pm. The group will be covering a lot of ground tonight-Dinner Auction, Christmas Plans, Sprit Gear and more! - Colder weather is here! Please make sure students wear long pants and have a warm jacket. For more guidance, please refer back to the District' s Student/Parent Handbook. If your family is in need of a winter coat, please let us know. Thank you to all who donated blood on Monday! 30 units of blood were collected! 90 lives could be potentially saved from those units! Thank you again for your efforts and generosity! Stay tuned-we are preparing another Blood Drive for February 2022!

Attention Kelso C-7 Families with students that will have completed 6th grade by Summer 2023 or older. Mrs. Hale is working on planning the next Kelso C-7 travel opportunity. It will be 5 days total with 2 in Boston and 3 in New York. A few places we will visit while in New York are the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island, Times Square, National September 11 Memorial/Museum, and to see a Broadway show We will visit the Bunker Hill Monument, take guided tours of Boston/Cambridge, and Lexington/Concord, and so much more. Students must have completed sixth grade or higher to enroll without a parent/guardian. However, parent/guardians are always welcome to join us. Please help decide on a timeline. We can schedule the trip for summer of 2023 or 2024. Please answer below as soon as possible so I know when would be the best time to schedule it. We are so excited for our first party of the year!  Each family was asked to sign up to attend and/or  support one party for the school year.  Our leadership team created this idea with the intention of limiting our school family's exposure to not only COVID 19 but all illnesses.   For those of you that signed up for the Fall party (and future parties),  we are asking that only one adult per family come to the party.  This includes additional adults, but also siblings.  We appreciate your understanding and continued support!

Congrats to our transportation department and bus riders! This morning both buses successfully and effectively completed bus evacuation drills in honor of School Bus Safety Week. The drivers and kids did an amazing job helping one another during the drill this morning. Great work!

Tonight the Kelso C7 Board of Education voted to lower the district’s status of the Safe Return to School Plan to Phase I. Starting tomorrow masks will no longer be required in the building. Masks will still be required on buses per federal mandate.

Say Boo to the Flu (Scott County Health Department Flu Clinic) Date: 10/18/2021 9am-11am @ Kelso C-7 School Where: 820 Highway A, New Hamburg, MO (Multipurpose room) Dear Parent/Guardian, We will be hosting the Scott County Flu vaccination clinic this year! It is open to our students, families, staff and surrounding community members. Please fill out the permission forms and return them to school by Friday October, 15th.
