The District is currently accepting applications for both immediate positions and next year!
FOOD SERVICE
The District has an opening in preparation for Mrs. Laura’s retirement at the end of the 23-24 school year. Starting after Christmas break, candidates can learn the role in a part time position with the intention of a full time role during the 2024-25 school year.
The position has the option for full time and benefits for candidates willing to fill the remainder of the time with custodial duties. Candidates are asked to complete the Support Staff application found on the District website.
SPECIAL EDUCATION
Mrs. (Roussin) Wittig will still be with our Falcons, but we are looking to add a faculty member to help as our program grows in numbers and needs. We are looking to hire a certified special education teacher to start as soon as possible after the Christmas break. This person will be responsible for the planning, writing, and implementation of IEP's for a specific group of students. Candidates are asked to complete the Certified Staff application found on the District website.
MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH
Ms. Gray will be returning to her hometown after completing her student teaching and 23-24 year with us. We have been so happy to have her with our Falcons.
We are currently accepting applications for the 24-25 school year. Certified applicants will be given priority, but the District is open to a certified elementary educator that is willing to become math certified within a specific time period. Candidates are asked to complete the Certified Staff application found on the District website.
All applications are to be given to Dr. Kimberly Burger (kburger8@kelsoc-7.k12.mo.us) or Mrs. Debbie Lands (dlands@kelsoc-7.k12.mo.us).
Please help us find our new team members by sharing, liking, and tagging potential candidates.

Angel Tree PJ/Hat Day
Friday, November 17
Our local “Angel Tree' 'is a yearly program to support families and/or individuals identified by Catholic Charities and Scott County Family Support as being financially disadvantaged. In the holiday spirit of giving, we would like to help our local Angel Tree be able to collect items for all of the identified families. We are asking for a minimum donation of $1 from your child to be able to wear PJ’s or a Hat to school on Friday, November 17. There have been other area schools who have also had PJ/Hat Days and they brought in over $500! It is only $1 for your child to wear PJ’s or a Hat, but donations of more than $1 are appreciated and welcomed.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Debbie Lands at school 573-545-3357, Mrs. Monica Burger 573-979-4298, or Mrs. Valerie Dirnberger 573-270-3836.
THANK YOU for your consideration for this amazing program.

Kelso C-7: Weekly Calendar + Board of Education + New Phase
It's a short–but fun–week for our Falcons! Check out the events listed on the weekly calendar below.
The Kelso C-7 Board of Education will also meet tonight at 6:00 pm in the school library for a public hearing, with a regular meeting to follow.
The communities and countryside of Kelso and New Hamburg are experiencing growth, and our school is also following suit–in leaps and bounds. Our enrollment is currently at 211 students in grades preschool through eighth.
Our District Leadership team has held numerous intentional and in-depth conversations about what makes Kelso C-7 unique and successful. In addition to many other attributes, small class sizes and low teacher-to- student ratio has been identified as a strong factor. We believe in order to continue and ensure this attribute, additional classroom space is needed. We also believe this is needed sooner rather than later.
At tonight’s public hearing with the Kelso C-7 Board of Education, there will be discussion and then action taken for the next phase of construction. When we first built the new school, we always publicly stated there would be three phases of growth; we designed the building to prepare for that.
It seems Phase III is now upon us. This would include two additional classrooms located at the east side of the building, additional bleacher space in the gym, and a sound system in the gym. This phase is financed initially by a lease purchase. This is similar to home loans we use in our own homes.
It is our hope the lease purchase would then be paid off with a NO TAX increase in April 2024.
Why are we doing a lease purchase instead of a traditional bond issue? This classroom space is needed as soon as possible. The estimated completion date is Summer 2024. The classrooms will not be completed if we wait for the April bond issue. Without a successful bond issue, the addition will be paid for out of the general operating funds.
The public hearing tonight is to take action on the Lease Purchase. We invite any and all community members to attend, ask questions, and hear about the next developments for our school at tonight’s 6 pm meeting.

Dear Kelso C-7 Families,
Today our school participated in the “Great Shake Out,” an international earthquake drill. Preparedness for any emergency is essential. Living on a fault line it is essential to be prepared. Kelso C-7 students were ready for the challenge! They were ready and quickly moved into action! We are extremely proud of our team!
We are passing along a resource from the Great Shake Out. It has some good information and links to additional resources for your family to help prepare for an earthquake. Check out the link below!

Flu Clinic Wednesday, 10/18
The Scott County Health Department will be at Kelso C-7 on Wednesday, October 18th from 9 -11 am in the gym lobby. This is open to the community. All visitors please enter through the gym doors and park in the gravel area.
This is open to Kelso C-7 students. If you are interested in having your student receive a flu vaccine, please send the completed forms and payment with your child by Wednesday morning.

Tardy:
Good morning Kelso C-7 families,
We are seeing an uptick in students who are tardy for school. We understand that life happens every once in a while. If a student arrives after 7:55 am, please park and bring your child in so that you can sign your child in. When we have repeated tardies, it becomes a problem for students. When students enter the room after class starts, it creates a distraction and is not fair to the other students or teacher. The Student/Parent Handbook outlines the consequences for tardies.
As we are wrapping up the first quarter and settling into a routine, hopefully this will be resolved.
Thank you for your help!

School Picture Day Tomorrow, 10/11
All student individual, class, and volleyball pictures will be tomorrow.
Please send order forms with payment with your student. All students will have their picture made tomorrow even if the family does not plan on ordering pictures.
Volleyball pictures will also be tomorrow. Please send uniforms with athletes to change into after their individual pictures. If families plan on ordering pictures, please send order forms completed with payment as well.
