Kelso C-7 School District

Good Afternoon! In case of rain today, be prepared to transition to a wet weather dismissal. If it is precipitating at all, we will hold the car rider students in the main hallway, and begin taking them out one at a time depending upon the location of your car. We try to do the first 4 to 6 vehicles that are parked the closest in line to the school. Once those students are in cars, you may drive away, and at that point, the next group of cars behind them may pull forward. We will repeat the process until all cars have gone through and all students are picked up. On rainy days, or days they are calling for rain, please remember to send your child with a hooded jacket. We do our best to protect them from the elements, and have even been in moments where it wasn't raining when the bell rang, but by the time the last group of students came outside, it began to pour. This can potentially delay the length of time needed for pickup, so we appreciate your grace and patience. If you have any questions, please call the school.

🐾Fozzie Friday - Week 4🐾 Mrs. Hahn's Kindergarten class did a "PAW"-some job this week when Fozzie and Mrs Lands came to visit! This week, Miss F spent the week with Mrs. Hahn's class! Mrs. Hahn arranged for Mrs. Lands to come read an "F" book to her class that was full of flowers, foxes, fat frogs, fences, and fir trees. The kids loved that Fozzie fit right in this week with their lessons! Great Job, Kindergarten! Fozzie is so proud of you!🐾

This week at Kelso C-7, we are showcasing one of our brand new construction rooms that is currently being utilized as our combo Art/Music class taught by Mr Jenkins! Mr. Jenkins is a creative teacher and is making great use of his space! Whether they are working on an Art project, or singing/dancing in Music, he is very thankful to have a classroom that is dedicated to Fine Arts.

🐾Fozzie Friday - Week 3🐾 Fozzie was TUCKERED OUT this week! He visited all of the classrooms and we explained how his puppy body is adapting to coming to school. The students all related to this since they were also tired as they have adjusted to a new school year. Fozzie is a favorite amongst our adults and he is doing a wonderful job of sitting when they approach him. Fozzie gets a LOT of love each day and extra treats. The students got to all pet him this week, if they chose to, and it was absolutely wonderful. Fozzie even sat with a student who got hurt at recess. 🐾This fella loves his school family🐾

This Thankful Thursday we are thankful for....GRANDPARENTS! Grandparents play such a special and important role in our students' lives. Life wouldn't be quite as sweet without this amazing group of people. We are excited to invite and welcome back all of our grandparents on September 20th to celebrate each and every one of them! Invites and RSVPs will be coming home in backpacks tomorrow (Friday, 9/6) and are due back to your child's teacher by Wednesday, September 11. We look forward to seeing our grandparents soon!

Wednesday is "What's Happening Wednesday" but we have additionally added a "Weekly Spotlight" to our Tuesday social media slot, and are launching it this week all in one post. Next week and beyond, they will be separate! Mammograms are coming to New Hamburg! Ladies, taking care of your health just got a little more accessible. The St. Francis mobile wellness bus will be at Kelso C-7 parking lot on October 31st from 8 am to 3 pm. See the attached images for details of how to make your appointment today!

No School Today - Labor Day Friendly reminder that Kelso C-7 is closed , Monday, September 2, in observance of Labor Day. We hope all of our families enjoy a little time together on their day off.

Box Tops just got a little easier!! All Falcon Fans can now support our library with ease by scanning products AND now you can connect Walmart app purchases to Box Tops-this includes pick up purchases. The details and instructions are on the images attached. The process takes less than 2 minutes to complete and help our Falcon readers. Thanks for your time to help grow our library!

It's Fozzie Friday! Week 2: Fozzie visited all the classrooms! 🐾. Mrs. Lands talked to each class about his commands, what he has been learning, and how students are expected to act near Fozzie. The students were WONDERFUL with him and very respectful. Next week, classes will get a chance to pet Fozzie in small groups or pairs, with Mrs Lands keeping him (and the students) secure. He has had a very fun week of walking the halls, showing off how smart he is by doing his commands, smelling the yummy kitchen smells, delivering sodas to our staff, meeting all the kids, and taking naps between classroom visits. It's a "ruff" life at Kelso C-7🐾

Thankful Thursday "It takes a village...." Here at Kelso C-7 we are so , so thankful for our village supporting our school. We are so thankful for each of you who made our start of school year maybe the best one yet! This week we have a couple special thank you's: - The Jennings family who made sure our faculty and staff had yummy goodies during the back to school with some words of wisdom. - Craftsman Utility Trailers for donating FOUR boxes FULL of supply-filled backpacks. - Burger family for their back and supply drop off - PTO for surprising each of our employees a gift card to welcome our crew back to school. Kelso C-7 is hiring! We are currently looking for part time after school care supervisors, part time custodians, and substitute teachers! After School Care supervisor is a great job for anyone 16 and above looking for a couple hours. The job requires supervising students from 3:30 - 5:30 pm. The District is looking for an individual who is engaging, responsible, and enjoys spending time with the BEST students! A part-time custodian would be for a couple hours per day cleaning classrooms and the school. Time can be flexible. Pay based on experience. We are always looking and in need of substitute teachers! 12 Hours away from opening our doors for another amazing year with our Falcons! Doors will open at 7:30 am for drop off. The 7:55 am bell will start the day. PK and K families can walk their child to their classroom this week only. Other families can drop off in the line or park in the lot and walk them to the door. Breakfast will be served tomorrow from 7:30-7:50 am for any students. Returning and new families can still complete digital enrollment and updates by logging into Teacher Ease. For families that have not completed online registration by Thursday, a paper copy will be sent home on Friday. Get some rest Falcons! Our amazing team has an unforgettable year planned for you!

TODAY IS THE DAY! Back to School Night! We are over the moon to see our families tonight! The evening starts at 5:30 am with a new family orientation in the gym. The schedule for families to visit classrooms are on the attached image. Don't miss our line-up in the cafeteria/MP: *Southern Bank will be on hand with information for our Falcons about their First Spending/First Spending accounts. *Digital Enrollment Help: Mrs. Creech and Mrs. Long will be helping any families with their digital enrollment. It would be helpful if families bring any usernames and/or passwords. If you do not know your username or password-that's okay too! *Transportation: Mr. Ted will be available for any new families that will be riding the bus and for any help for our returning families. *PTO Spirit Shirts: PTO has an amazing line-up of Falcon Spirit Shirts for presale. They will be taking orders tonight! Venmo will be accepted. The countdown is on and excitement is up until we see you all tonight!

Back to School Night: We are exactly one week away from our Annual Back to School Night! The schedule for Monday, August 19th, including the assigned family times, are on the image attached. We are excited to see our students and families back in the building! A few other notables: -There are still a few spots open for FREE preschool tuition for 4-year olds that live in Kelso C-7 District and for parent paid 3 year olds and 4 year olds. Contact the main office at 573.545.3357 for more information or to enroll TODAY! - The School Supply List is on the District's website. - Enrollment emails went out last Thursday to all new families. Returning families can use their previous login to complete the digital enrollment. Board of Education Meeting - August 7, 2024 The Kelso C-7 Board of Education will meet for the annual tax hearing at 5:45 pm and the regular business meeting will follow at 6:00 pm. Both meetings will be held in the District Library. All community members are invited and welcome to attend.

Back to School Items Tax free weekend is this weekend and back to school is just around the corner. Families can find both the preschool and elementary supply lists on District Information link of the homepage (link below). Spring 2024 MAP and EOC scores have arrived!! We are so proud of our team and their hard work to earn WOW-worthy scores! Individual student scores will be distributed at Back to School Night on Monday, August 19th. If your family would like the scores earlier, please contact the main office to make arrangements. Falcon Athletics is in full-swing. If you have not liked the Kelso C-7 Athletics Facebook page, its not too late! Athletic Director Katie Glastetter is regularly posting schedule updates. Digital enrollment links will be sent Monday, August 5th. Please be looking for the link in your inbox and possible spam folders. Families that have not completed the digital enrollment by Monday, August 19th, a paper version will be provided on the first day of school. Back to School Night- Date Change Back to School Night will be MONDAY, August 19th. This is a change from our originally scheduled date. The construction project is running a little behind; we are pushing back the date a little to give our team a little more time to prepare for the grand opening. For Back to School Night, each family has a time slot based on their last time to visit their classrooms and drop off any school supplies while they visit their teacher. For blended families, please go by the last name of your oldest child attending Kelso C-7. There will be a new family orientation at the beginning of the evening. This will be a crash course in Kelso C-7 basics. All new families and returning families are invited to attend. A few reminders and other notes: -If your family has not received their immunizations-it's not too late. Students going into Kindergarten and 8th grade will need updated immunizations. Nurse Burger has provided some helpful information to our families. -If your child has medications that are to be administered at school (including epi pens), please bring those to Back to School Night to the Nurse’s Office. -If a parents’ or guardians’ email address have changed, please login to Teacher Ease to either change it there or call the office with your new contact information. We will be sending out digital enrollment forms the first week of August. Enrollment information will be sent to the email address on file. -We do have a couple spots left in our preschool if there are any families interested. To receive free tuition, the student must be 4 by August 1, live in the Kelso C-7 District, and maintain a 94% attendance rate during the year.
