Kelso C-7 Board of Education Meeting Recap

The Kelso C-7 Board of Education met on Monday, May 18, for its regular monthly meeting. Board members approved the meeting agenda and consent agenda, including previous meeting minutes, district expenditures, treasurer’s report, and attendance information for the 2025-26 school year.
Celebrating Good Things
Preschool teacher Crystal Bentley shared the evening’s “Two Minutes of Good,” highlighting positive happenings within the district.
District Services & Operations
The Board approved the district’s annual agreement with Beginning Concepts to continue providing speech, occupational therapy, and physical therapy services for students.
Due to AT&T discontinuing analog phone services later this summer, the Board also approved a new communications agreement with ESI to provide updated phone services for the district.
In addition, the Board approved closing the district’s Bank of Advance account and approved the Career Ladder Plan for the 2026-27 school year.
Summer Hours
The district’s summer office hours were approved as Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. through August 13. Offices will also be closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25.
Staff & Program Updates
Board members received updates regarding district support staff, building safety, and several district programs, including educator effectiveness, guidance and counseling, special education, and extracurricular activities.
The Principal’s Report included discussion on positive office referrals and special education updates, while the Superintendent’s Report included legislative updates, Teacher Appreciation Week, and facilities requests.
Personnel Updates
During closed session, the Board accepted the resignations of Jaime Burger and Michaella Gantz.
The Board also approved the hiring of:
Hannah McFerron for 3rd Grade
Ben Belanger for Music/Art
Stephanie Hahn and Angel Toler for the MTSS Plan Committee
Next Meeting
The next regular meeting of the Kelso C-7 Board of Education is scheduled for June 25, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
