The Kelso C-7 Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, with a quorum present. Board President Liz Glastetter called the meeting to order.


Board Actions & Approvals

The Board unanimously approved:

  • The January meeting agenda

  • The Consent Agenda, including:

    • Minutes from the December 17, 2025 meeting

    • Current expenditures

    • Treasurer’s report


Board Appreciation & Celebrations

  • The Board was recognized in honor of Board of Education Appreciation Month, honoring the dedication and service of board members to the Kelso C-7 community.

  • Two Minutes of Good: 8th Grade Math Teacher Kamryn Scherer shared positive highlights and successes happening in the classroom, celebrating student learning and growth.


Building & Construction Update

Superintendent Dr. Kimberly S. Burger provided an update on the district’s building project, including estimated costs and next steps in the planning process.


Safety Update

The Board received a comprehensive safety report, including:

  • Upcoming drill and training schedules

  • Implementation of the Visitor Safe system for school visitors

  • Implementation of Parent ProTech, supporting proactive safety planning


Insurance Coverage Update

The Board approved the purchase of a $4 million umbrella insurance policy, strengthening coverage and protection for the district.


Policy Updates

The Board approved:

  • Board Policies 2760 and 0320

  • Regulation 4221

These updates ensure district policies remain current and aligned with state requirements.


Principal’s Report

Principal Debbie Lands shared:

  • Highlights from Positive Office Referrals

  • Administrative and Special Education updates


Superintendent’s Report

Dr. Burger reported on:

  • Program evaluation will be presented in February after the District's leadership team meets.

  • Legislative updates from the start of the session.

  • CSIP (Comprehensive School Improvement Plan) progress

  • Updated Proportionate Share balances were provided.


Closed Session Actions

Following closed session discussions, the Board approved:

  • Hiring Stephanie Hahn as a Title I teacher for the 2026–2027 school year

  • Appointments to the Safety Planning Team for the 2025–2026 school year:

    • Jeff Hency

    • Dayneen Glastetter

    • Traci Bollinger

    • Regina Merrell
