Our Kelso C-7 Board of Education met on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in the school library. President Liz Glastetter called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. with a quorum present.

Highlights from the Meeting

  • Welcome & Attendance: All members were present except Dustin Benson, who was unable to attend.

  • Others Present: Superintendent Dr. Kim Burger, Principal Debbie Lands, Board Secretary Kristy Pobst, and teachers John Erik Jenkins and Taylor Long joined the meeting.

Two Minutes of Good

Mr. Jenkins and Mr. Long shared this month’s “Two Minutes of Good,” spotlighting positive moments happening around our school. Their enthusiasm and creativity continue to make a difference in the daily lives of our students!

Building & Safety Updates

Dr. Burger gave an update on progress with the parking lot and security improvements, as well as an overall school safety update. Ensuring a safe and accessible campus remains a top priority for our district.

Special Education

The Board adopted the Missouri Model Special Education Compliance Plan, ensuring our programs remain fully aligned with state and federal guidelines.

Policy Updates

A set of policy and regulation revisions were approved to reflect current requirements and best practices. All of the District's policies can be found on the district website.

Board of Education Candidate Filing

It’s almost filing season! Three positions—currently held by Major Burger, Roy Buell, and Elizabeth Glastetter—will be open for election. The Board approved the notice and filing schedule for the 2026 election period.

Program Evaluation

The Board reviewed the most recent CSIP Program Evaluation, continuing our cycle of reflection and improvement across district programs.

Principal’s Report

Mrs. Lands shared updates on:

  • Positive Office Referrals and celebrations of student success

  • Special Education collaboration and administrative updates

Superintendent’s Report

Dr. Burger provided updates on:

  • CSIP review and strategic progress

  • Board refresher and training plans

  • State and federal updates, including potential government impacts

  • Golf tournament recap and facility requests

Closed Session

The Board entered closed session at 7:18 p.m. to discuss personnel and legal matters, returning to open session at 8:16 p.m.

The next regular Board of Education meeting is scheduled for
Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the school library.
